Anita Yasuda lives in the rolling hills near Toronto, Ontario. She loves crafting lyrical fiction and nonfiction picture books. You can most often find her writing “at the edges of the day.”
After high school in Yokohama, Japan, she studied the history, culture, and peoples of East Asia and South Asia at Victoria College, University of Toronto. Upon graduating, she become an Early Childhood Educator and a Montessori teacher.
She has lived in Tokyo, Vancouver, and Huntington Beach, where she taught and worked for many years in the educational publishing market. She’s written over 100 books for children, from early readers to chapter books on ghosts, presidents, and everything in between.
When she isn’t writing, she’s busy teaching energetic preschoolers and engaging in endless games of soccer and circle time fun. Outside of work, Anita loves to practice yoga, hike with her husband, play with her dog, Beau, and read, read, read! Anita is represented by Lori Steel.
Fun Fact: Anita was once an honorary firefighter in northern Japan.
